Minute-by-minute updates of South African General Elections 2014 in London are flooding the social media feeds and it is constantly seen over the papers. Making it impossible not to talk about what happen in London for African elections. But instead of fighting the media frenzy, I have chosen to embrace it with a staycation right by South African Embassy in Trafalgar Square London. Main diplomatic presence of South Africa in UK is South Africa House located in Trafalgar Square (Trafalgar Square, London, WC2N 5DP)
South African Elections 2014 in London
Trafalgar Square is constant source of attraction and you will find it busy all the time. But this staycation was more exciting because the Trafalgar Square is abuzz with South African voters. While entering I got a sneak preview and here’s what I found near the national gallery:
So many things happening in parallel. Singers, guitarists, spiderman, supporters, tourists, photographers, media and a lot more. There was a group of African National Congress supporters wearing & distributing yellow shirts with slogan
“Together we move South Africa forward – Vote ANC”
South African Elections 2014 in London made the square more happening and lively. Near to the group of ANC supporters guitarist setting up his system. Soon after setting up he started playing notes in each chord one after other. Magical melody was so attention grabbing that every other person was stopping to appreciate.
Spiderman was spotted supporting ANC too.
Much enticing & noticeable voice attracted me and i started looking around to find it. I followed & reached the brilliant singer. Young singer was so engaged in his singing and his melodic chorals were so pleasant and it was best treat of the day.
After moving away from long queue of voters I started walking around the square and like always stood by the black lions. Usually London remains cloudy but today weather is ideal to walk around the square.
Then finally time to rest at the fountain of square. Having some beverages and looking around the beautiful architectures of London.
